Paintings > New Work

(From the Aerosmith album Permanent Vacation) I had wanted to make triangle paintings for a few years. After working with the grid for almost two decades and deciding that the grid was a very natural, Earthly concept (Gravity is vertical - The horizon is horizontal). Man stands erect at a right angle to the earth's surface. But.... maybe on another planet, in another universe or different dimension, there are two or more sources of gravity. Making their cultural standard motif non-square. So maybe they have the Triangle as their main shape. Triangle books, triangle windows, bodies, TV screens... triangle paintings.... And maybe, just maybe there is painter on that Triangle planet who decides to make square paintings!
